At The Numbers, we believe that trust isn’t something you demand—it’s something you prove.
In the world of private investing, it’s all too easy to make bold claims after the fact. “We bought before it spiked.” “We sold just in time.” Anyone can say that. But we don’t just say it. We prove it.
Galileo Did It First
In the early 1600s, Galileo discovered the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter. But instead of announcing it immediately, he encoded his findings in an anagram—a cipher. He shared the scrambled letters with trusted colleagues. Later, when the discoveries were publicly confirmed, he revealed the key to the cipher, proving he’d known all along.
Why? To establish credibility, claim priority—and make it tamper-proof.
At The Numbers, we’ve adopted a modern version of this centuries-old technique. We use cryptographic tools and public transparency logs to prove, without question, that the trades we say we made were actually made—when we said they were.
Cryptographic Receipts for Every Trade
Every trade or equity transaction we make is digitally signed and uploaded to a public, immutable ledger called Rekor, maintained by Sigstore. It’s a cryptographic time machine. Once something is entered into Rekor, it can’t be changed or deleted—not by us, not by anyone.
Here’s how it works:
We sign each trade using a secure digital key—like a unique wax seal. We upload the signed trade to Rekor, which gives us a UUID (unique ID). We publish a link to that entry so anyone can verify it. When the trade is revealed, the data is compared against the original Rekor entry.
Transparency That’s Verifiable
Each posted transaction includes a link like this:
That link leads you to a public record containing:
The exact time the record was uploaded A cryptographic hash of the transaction data Metadata proving the digital signature
Even if you’re not a cryptographer, the math behind it is sound. And if you are, feel free to inspect the signature, hash, and timestamp yourself.
Why This Matters
We don’t expect blind trust. In fact, we remove the need for it.
This system holds us accountable in real time. It prevents hindsight bias. And most importantly, it proves to our LPs and prospective partners that we operate with a level of transparency few investment firms even attempt.
Just like Galileo, we stake our claims—and let the math and timestamps do the talking.
